Sofi Filtration is a privately owned company designing and developing state-of-the-art liquid filtration technology. The company’s team has over 50 combined years of experience in heavy industry water treatment processes, such as the minerals processing industry and has developed an innovative, energy efficient and environmentally friendly water treatment system that is commercialized under the brand name Sofi Filter. We have just received a EUR 3 million investment from reputable investors to finance our growth and are looking for an enthusiastic person to join as Finance Manager.

What we are looking for:

We are a small team based in Espoo, Finland and Texas, USA, and are looking for a finance specialist to join as Finance Manager, first on a part-time basis (60% to 80%) but with the intent to increase to 100% workload in the near term. You will be responsible for all financial aspects of the business, for managing and developing financial processes, and for coordinating HR, legal and IT matters. You will be responsible for:

Accounting and Reporting:

  • Working with our external accounting firm

  • Coordinating the preparation of the annual report and quarterly reports

  • Working with auditors in preparing the annual audit

  • Financial reporting for nationally and internationally funded R&D&I projects

Financial Planning and Analysis / Controlling:

  • Preparing the yearly budget and liquidity plan, and tracking performance

  • Setting financial KPIs and tracking achievement

  • Monthly reporting package to the board

  • Work on standardizing business partner agreements and terms & conditions.

  • Providing financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations

Treasury / Cash Management

  • Ensuring that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner

  • Ensuring that accounts receivable are collected promptly

  • Ensuring that required debt payments are made on a timely basis 

  • Monitoring debt levels and compliance with debt covenants

  • Negotiating with banks

  • Working capital management and optimization

Taxes

  • Complying with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

What you bring:

  • Approximately 10 years of experience in accounting, controlling, or similar finance position

  • University degree in finance, accounting or economics

  • An accounting or finance certification

  • Knowledge of Finnish GAAP

  • Working-level English (written and oral)

  • Attention to detail

  • A positive “can-do” attitude

  • An interest in taking on challenges

  • Dedication and flexibility
